Mathematics can be fun. Actually, Mathematics can be REALLY fun. We can apply the subject to see the world differently and with endless opportunities. At Little Plaza, we see Mathematics as a fun hobby and we want to encourage kids to ask questions instead of answering an endless list of questions from a syllabus.
At Little Plaza, we are launching Poppy's Little Maths Challenge where Poppy presents her inspiration and passion in Mathematics from her experience with the UK Maths Trust (UKMT) challenges. The UKMT questions are structured differently compared to questions common in the curriculum and relies heavily on logical thinking to plot the route to the answer. Poppy will show the logical thinking to solve the questions, the fundamentals required and how the different topics can be applied together. Maths is logical and creative.
Mathematics is all around us. For example, in Formula 1, engineers apply mathematics to create models of various aspects of the car to optimise and describe complex phenomena such as aerodynamics, use decision trees to derive the optimal strategy during the race, and many other applications. Mathematics is fun and insightful.
In summary, we believe that logical thinking will inspire more children to like Mathematics and understanding how Mathematics is applied in different scenarios will make the subject more interesting. We want to inspire young mathematicians to ask more questions and explore the world with Mathematics.
